Oh the joys of editing your own work

No, no. I like it, really. It’s just *starting* that’s hard.

Revisiting writers’ block

I was asked a few days ago if I ever experience writers’ block and while I do, it usually only lasts for a few days. A week at worst. I know the angels of writing and wrath will descend upon me because I say this and probably give me terrible writers’ block, but I’ll take my chances for now. Either way, I hate when the words just aren’t coming like they should and it can make me very, very frustrated. I mean, writing is all fun and games until you wake up and realise that writing is actually painful and difficult and no one should be doing it ever. Just google “quotes about writing” and take it from the pros.

Either way, when I can’t write I leave “little” notes inside the text just so I know where my words *should* be going. Examples:

Take it as proof of my writers’ block. Or perhaps a very bad sneak peak at my new novella. Whichever you prefer. 😛

Have a nice weekend everyone! 🙂

Finally? On “Jenny’s wedding”.

My tastes are eclectic when it comes to most things, books, movies, stories, games. I like to be moved. I like to feel changed. I like to finish a book with tears streaming down my face, not necessarily because of sad endings but because the story took a piece of my heart with it and I’m crying because it hurts. Or I’m crying from the sheer beauty of it. Or just over the fact that it’s over. Or maybe I’m crying because I’m a cry-baby, that could be it too…

I’m mainly a Jurassic park/Indiana Jones/National treasure type of girl. My favourite movie ever is  Les Aventures extraordinaires d’Adèle Blanc-Sec, because that movie has everything you might want in a movie. It’s historical, has dinasours, it’s funny, has a badass female protagonist, I could go on and on. But despite my overall taste I’m always looking for good movies that has lesbians in them. For me the obvious answers are I can’t think straight and The unseen world which are both awesome and I really recommend (after you watch Les Aventures extraordinaires d’Adèle Blanc-Sec, of course 😉 )

What usually upset me before was that I wanted “regular” movies that had lesbians in them. I don’t want to cry because the two women will never get to be together. I don’t want to see one of them go back to the man at the end, etc. I don’t mind them needing to fight for their relationship, but I want to rest in the reasurance that there will be a happy ending because it’s just a silly romantic comedy with some drama thrown in.

…and then it happened. In July this year there is a movie coming out (in the US though, who knows when it’ll be released here). Mainstream actresses, Katherine Heigl and Alexis Bledel, and it’s about “Jenny” whose family doesn’t know that she’s gay and gets a shock when she says that she’s getting married. Don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty interesting to me! 🙂 It’s a regular movie, with mainstream actresses, about a lesbian wedding?

Oh wow.

(Now all I need is Adèle Blanc-Sec’s grand lesbian adventure and I can die a happy woman)
